Monday, April 7th, 2014: 20-year-old Alejandro Juarez made a few Baylor University headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Western Conference officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 14 hits in 26 at-bats to put up a .538 average. Juarez collected 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
To date this season Juarez is hitting .314 with 16 home runs. |

Monday, April 7th, 2014: 19-year-old Zach Kruchten sent shock waves through NCAA Division I Baseball last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Eastern Conference Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Kruchten made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .364 average, 8 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 RBI.
Where the University of South Carolina Gamecocks third baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Kruchten certainly made his mark last week.
Looking at his season stats, Kruchten has compiled a .290 batting average and a .385 on-base percentage, while hitting 14 home runs and driving in 30 runs. |

Sunday, April 6th, 2014: The Cal State Irvine Anteaters got a great effort from Dusty Ray as the 20-year-old hurler tossed a complete-game 4-0 shutout over the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. He struck out 6 while allowing 5 hits and walking 3.
So far this season Ray has a record of 3-4 with 51 strikeouts and 29 walks in 52.2 innings and a 4.27 ERA. |
