Monday, April 7th, 2014: There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Juan Salazar, the Yucatan catcher, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Mexican League Player of the Week honors.
Salazar piled up 15 hits in 21 at-bats, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs while hitting .714.

 | Lozano Strokes 5 Hits
Sunday, April 6th, 2014: No matter what the Saltillo Saraperos threw at him today, Mel Lozano hit it. He easily handled Saraperos pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Acereros to a 10-4 triumph at Estadio De Beisbol Francisco I. Madero.
He told BNN reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Saltillo skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we might just do that... blindfold him... and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
Mel Lozano tripled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
Presently Lozano is batting .423 and has collected no home runs, 4 RBIs, .423 OBP and scored 6 runs. |
 | League KO's Acereros-Saraperos Players with 9-Game Suspensions
Sunday, April 6th, 2014: Juan Gonzáles of the Monclova Acereros and Alejandro Trevino of the Saltillo Saraperos received notification from the league commissioner's office that they had been suspended for 9 games for their part in the on-field ruckus in a recent game at Estadio De Beisbol Monclova.
To date this year Gonzáles is batting .300 with no home runs.
